It's about Me

Well, it is winter and some places are getting a lot of snow. We have been so lucky here in Oklahoma and have had a very mild winter. We have not had many days that have been cold so we are still able to get out and haven't had any cabin fever. But if you haven't been so lucky and are looking for something to do with the kids here is a fun and simple project.

We purchased wooden letters at our local craft store.  Then headed home to paint and decorate.

Keep in mind this project is about YOU. Pick out pictures, clip art, and words that describe you. For younger kids you can have pictures printed out and ready but let them choose what to put on their letter that describes them.

Just remember to have fun and enjoy the family time.

Fun with Words

I have come across this great web site where words are used to form a cloud or image. The website is Tagxedo and the possibilities are endless.

Words can be taken from a blog, news article, or enter your own words to make it personal. Choose the image or cloud and colors for your image. Then you can save, print or share the image.

I have been thinking about Valentines day and these would make a cute gift. Just print and frame.

Make your own word cloud here.

Happy crafting,

Mod Podge Therapy

With Christmas over and the first of the year here, it is time to relax. I saw some great travel cases up-scaled at Mod Podge Rocks and I knew I had the perfect case. I had found my case years ago at a garage sale, used it a couple of times and then put it in the closet to be forgotten.

I pulled out the old case from the back of the closet and cleaned it off. Then I tore up some scrapbook paper into different sizes and shapes and began my Mod Podge therapy. There is just something very relaxing about brushing the Mod Podge onto a project. Working in small sections, I randomly stuck the scrapbook paper onto the case. There are two small bands around the case that I covered with ribbon.

Now I have a great looking travel case and I feel more relaxed. Next time I feel a little stress I'll be sure to get the Mod Podge out.

Happy crafting,

Welcome

Welcome to It’s A Family Thang. First let me introduce myself and tell you about myself. My name is Dena, I am a working wife and a mother to two grown daughters. I work full time so I am blogging in my spare time about what I love - crafting.

Creativity runs in the family genes. I love sewing and crafting. My husband is a photographer and he loves fly tying. My father was an art teacher and photographer. He still enjoys wood working, stained glass, and crafting.  My husband’s mother was an artist who loved to draw and paint. My youngest daughter is an artist, seamstress and all around crafty person. My oldest daughter claims to not have any crafting skills but she can crochet, which is something I never was able to learn. She also enjoys creative writing. So as you can see, this really is a family thang.

I hope you enjoy my blog as much as I enjoy sharing our family’s projects with you.

Happy New Year!
Dena
